Backups and offline

Your writing lives on your device

Every word saves into your browser's own storage, on your computer or phone. Nothing is uploaded unless you choose to. That is also why the app keeps working with the internet off.

Make backups a habit

The ⋯ menu exports your whole project as a single .shabdakalpa file — keep one anywhere you like. Cloud saving connects your own Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive, and Dropbox can back up once a day automatically. The dashboard reminds you when a backup is overdue.

A note for Safari

Safari may clear site storage after seven days without a visit. Install the app to your home screen or export a backup — the dashboard shows a firm reminder when you are at risk.
